Vina Solorca Crianza 2011

The Viña Solorca Winery is located in Roa in the famed Ribera del Duero D.O., and has been making wine since 1998. The family-run winery is owned by José Victor Balbás Arroyo, who comes from one of the area’s pioneering wine families. His experience is complemented by that of the rest of the team that make up the winery staff. Day by day they face the challenge of improving the quality and reputation of the Viña Solorca wines, taking care of every last detail, so as to take their rightful place among the very greatest Ribera del Duero producers.

The Solorca estate consists of 72 hectares of vineyards surrounding the winery, all Tempranillo, which is an important factor contributing to the excellent quality of their wines. The vines are both young and old – the average age is approximately 30-40 years old. The vines are grown in goblet bush formation and also trained on wires, and are all hand picked by teams of grape-pickers at harvest time. The Crianza is made from 100% Tempranillo that has been aged for 30 months in oak casks: 20 months in used American oak, and 10 months in new French oak. The wine is well structured and silky smooth on the palate with flavors of red fruit, tobacco and cedar along with toast and spice. Enjoy with grilled red meats.
