– Applause-
“Hello, let me just start by saying, Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!”
– Laughter-
“Now as the song goes:
(Because our wines) Our wines are on your list
(Because our wines) Our wines you can’t resist
(Because our wines) Our wines are on your list as the best wines in town~
Here’s the video:
Marques de Murrieta 2014 Reserva – Rioja, Spain
A blend of 84% Tempranillo, 9% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo, 2% Garnacha. Aged for 19 months in American Oak barrels and then wine ages for a year and half in bottle before release. Solid 91 points.
We tested the wine at the 1 hr and 2 hr (No decanting), and by that 2 hr mark the wine was so well balanced on the palate with light fruit, acidity, and tannins all the way through which drove home a finish that was a lingering pleasure.
Casa J price $21.99 (Reg $24.99)
“Next on our list…..”
Vina Ardanza Reserva 2008 – La Rioja Alta, Spain
A blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha. Aged separately: Tempranillo for 36 months in American oak barrels, and the Garnacha for 30 months in American oak barrels. The wine was bottled in 2013 and the 2008 is considered current vintage.
This is big wine not just on both palettes but also due to this being the 75th Anniversary for Vina Ardanza, but this also the first time in the blend of this brand, the Garnacha being used comes from La Pedriza vineyard in Tudelilla (Rioja Baja) at an altitude of 550m above sea level and is literally a desert. Low yeild but great intensity for the Garnacha.
We tested this one at 1 & 2 hr marks too. Exceptional, with more body and weight. A traditional example of La Rioja Alta style of wines. Is a 5 alarm fire when paired with Jamon, Manchego, Roasted Lamb/Pork, a fatty Ribeye. A super solid 94 points across board and even got a 95 from Decanter.
Casa J price $29.97 (Absurd for the quality & only at this price until sold out!! Limited) Reg $36.99
“Last but not least on the list….”
Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 from Mt. Veeder, Napa Valley, CA – A blend of 90.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 8.5% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec.
An opaque, big, bold, juicy, savory, full bodied, with an incredible balance of fruit and tannins. Wine can be aged for two decades.
This wine is a treat to to consume and experience. Share or covet (No blame if you do) and you will be, “Wowed!” with each sip.
Casa J price $74.99 (reg $80)
“Well folks that’s the end of the show, and in this case you are all winners in my book, knowing that you’re able to enjoy said wines with those you care about. Like I always say, a great wine experience has three G’s: Great Wine, Great Food, Great Company!! This is the best way to create those unforgettable moments. And that’s what life is about, isn’t it?”
See you Cats on next weeks show!
P.S. We will be having a wine tasting this Friday from 6-8pm.
