Hola Everyone and welcome to Tales from the Casa J Crypt,

Crypt Keeper Ace: Ah, there you are! You’re just in time! I’m trying a few new recipes from my new Betty Croaker’s cookbook. I hope you like shish-ka-bob… damn! It isn’t ready yet! Bob’s still moving!
[laughs maniacally and takes a gulp of the newest vintage Juan Gil 18 month aged 2014 Blue Label on sale for $29.97 one of our Top 10 Best of the Best ]

Crypt Keeper Ace: Tonight’s foul feast will begin with mashed potatoes, then onto some shrieking duck then finished with a nice kill-basa and a morosely sinful Zin. I call this tasty tidbit, Mournin’ Mess.

On to Wines…..

Lima Vinho Verde 2014 Portugal – Tasting Notes: Pale lemon yellow in color with aromas of lemon, lime, and laurel with subtler notes of green apple and minerality. On the palate the wine is elegant and engaging with mouth-filling flavors of citrus fruits, juicy green apple, and crisp pear with a zesty acidity that leads to a good long finish.

Renacer Punto Final Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown 2014 Argentina – Winery Tasting Notes: This Cabernet is a bright ruby red in color and has aromas of blackberries and cassis with spicy notes of green peppercorns and eucalyptus. On the palate, notes of vanilla and sweet spice from the oak aging underscore flavors of juicy black cherries and plums. Overall, the wine is elegant with a lingering finish and a bright acidity. 6 Months Oak.
Casa J price – BOGO – Two bottles for $18.99

Renacer Punto Final Malbec 2015 Argentina – Winery Tasting Notes: Dark ruby red in color with violet tones, this Malbec has aromas of red currants, blackberries, and plums, with notes of pepper and clove. Flavors of black cherries, red and black currants, and juicy plums fill the mouth with hints of wood spice and vanilla on the finish.
Casa J price – BOGO – 2 for $18.99

Bodegas Cantos de Valpiedra Crianza 2011 Rioja, Spain – Winery Notes: Cantos de Valpiedra is made of 100% Tempranillo grapes and aged 12 months in French and American oak. The wine shows a vibrant cherry-red color with a slightly bluish rim. Highly intense aromas of dark fruits and minerals blend well with those of the oak found in this wine. The palate is rich with an immediate berry fruit character. Well-balanced acidity with integrated alcohol and a long finish.
Casa J price $16.99 – 10% off during tasting.

Bodegas Muga Seleccion Especial 2011 (I have the 2010 for sale which scored a higher rating) Rioja, Spain – Blend: 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 7% Mazuelo, 3% Graciano. Winemakers notes: You can find good, even depth of color with purple glints right in the heart of the glass without the least sign of oxidation. Its nose preserves the character which defines this harvest: the fruit a rung below the dominant ripeness which mingles with hints of liqueurs which you can only find in this wine and not in the rest of the range from the same vintage. The tertiary aromas come through in the form of leather and very faint hints of cloves and mountain herbs. It is on the palate that it reveals its greatest strengths: fruit you can almost chew, soft, silky tannin, a good level of acidity and infinite mineral nuances. The synergy of these sensations creates a really powerful impact on the taster. The features detected in direct olfaction are repeated in retro-olfaction, but almost in reverse order. The fruit, now a little riper, comes to the fore, the spices from the oak and the mountain herbs rise to the same level and the hints of liqueur disappear.
Only 900 cases produced.
Casa J price $46.99 – 10% off during tasting.
