Product Description

100% Tempranillo aged for 12 months in French & American oak.

This wine from the DO Ribera del Duero is made with old vines of Tinta del País. The Cooperativa Virgen de la Asunción winery consists of 100 families that gather all the vineyards inherited from their ancestors, great grandparents, grandparents and parents. They were born and raised with wine and the vineyard.

The knowledge and wisdom of so many years taking care of the vineyards and making wine allow them to offer unique wines, which proudly show the land where they were born. Together they represent 325 hectares of own vineyards located in La Horra (Burgos), in the center of the so-called “Golden Triangle” of the vineyards (Roa- La Horra- Sotillo) at altitudes between 800 – 850 m.

Most vineyards are planted in a traditional way, since more than half of the vineyard is over 50 years old and with the great luck of having several “hawthorns” of more than 100 years. The winery has 500 French (40%) and American (60%) oak barrels with capacities of 225 l and 500 l and 62 stainless steel tanks of 25,000 l.

Because of its high quality, it sells part of its grapes and wine to prestigious wineries in the area and it harvests from year to year many prizes to its different references.

Recently, an experienced winemaker from the Priorato has taken the helm of the elaboration, which is modernizing the image of the winery and enhancing the high quality of its vineyard.
